I was visiting SF when I realized that my hair was way too long. I searched for a place on the L Taraval train line and I’m glad I chose Gentle Cuts. Sometimes I think my hair is traumatized by being cut but this really was a gentle cut and I am very pleased with it. The woman who cut my hair could not have been more lovely. I spent 40 including tip.

I got a very last minute haircut here and I am glad for it. I went on a Monday. No appointments necessary. Cash only. I payed 30. Judy cut my hair. She was very sweet and very attentive to your individual hair needs. I have very thick fluffy hair and she knew exactly how to trim town properly. Usually I’m very nervous getting a hair cut because I struggle to articulate exactly what I want but Judy made sure she knew what I really wanted before started. Pro tip, share a photo of you with a previous perfect hair cut and she’ll get it there again. I will be back for a second cut!
The proprietor, Judy, is an adorable grandma whose experience shows; she has always been very trustworthy with my hair, usually pretty fast too. She sometimes keeps the door locked by default, but just knock on it and she'll let you in. It is cash only but I didn't know that my first time and she directed me to the nearest ATMs and didn't even ask me to leave an ID to prove I would return or anything. Standard rate is 25 but I always tip generously because I used to pay a lot more for my haircuts elsewhere.
I love getting my hair cut here. The location is really convenient and cuts are very affordable. Gentle Cuts is always takes walk ins so you never have to worry about making an appointment. Judy is experienced cutting hair for adults and kids. She takes a lot of care in each hair cut and checks if you want anything adjusted. Highly recommend stopping here if you need a trim :)

Have been getting my hair cut by Judy for 2 years now. Judy is friendly, sweet, quick, reasonably priced (I think it was 25 last time?), and most importantly she’s good. I’ve had much more expensive barbers/stylists do a worse job than her. Definitely a hidden gem in this city of overpriced hair cuts!
